How We Help

Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted.
And every 9 minutes, that victim is a child. Meanwhile, only 25 out of every 1,000 perpetrators will end up in prison.
The Scope of the Problem
The Scope of the Problem
Children
More than 600,000 children are abused in the U.S each year. The CDC estimates that the actual number of children abused is likely underreported because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.

Nationally, neglect is the most common form of abuse. Three-fourths (76%) of victims are neglected, 16% are physically abused, and 10% are sexually abused, and 0.2% are sex trafficked. Yet CACs serve far more sexual abuse cases, indicating a deeper problem.
CACs investigated 247,543 cases involving sexual abuse allegations in 2022. While not all these cases resulted in a disclosure, charges, or a conviction, it’s an indication that the problem of sexual abuse may be much larger than federal statistics show. In the graph to the right, the data is broken down by types of abuse in Gordon County.
In 2022, Children’s Advocacy Centers around the country served some 380,4942 child victims of abuse, providing victim advocacy and support to these children and their families.

In 2022, Gordon County served 178 cases that were allegations of sexual abuse. Nationally, 2/3rd of all abuse related cases include sexual abuse allegations.
Adult
According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), in the United States, one in five women have experienced completed or attempted rape during their lifetime. Additionally, 24.8% of men in the United States have experienced some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime.

Nationwide, 81% of women and 43% of men reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime.
It is estimated that 734,630 people were raped (including threatened, attempted, or completed rape) in the U.S. in 2018.

Sexual assault affects everybody. Statistics show only 2-8% of all reports are false.
